For the woman who are change makers of their community.
Leaders of their home creating the next generation.
Woman show up for their children, spouses, parents, communities, jobs, and most importantly themselves.
I enjoyed celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8th by showing love to the awesome women business owners in my family. My small way of showing appreciation and support of their business to my online community. But the celebration of women and their contributions to society doesn’t stop there but continues all month long ( and of course the rest of the year!) Here are 7 ways you can celebrate the month and what women have contributed to the world!
1. Buy from women-owned businesses
It takes a brave woman to open up a businesses and put their idea out there in front of the world. I love to meet this courage of these women with admiration and support by purchasing from their businesses. A business for a women can mean geographical freedom, financial freedom, generational wealth, but overall a business means legacy. If you’re looking for women-owned business but don’t know where to start, start here!
2. Follow women leaders on social media
Following women leaders on social media is a way to see the unique and critical work many women are doing for their communities and countries. Work ranging for advocating for reproductive rights to the fight on climate change. Here is a list of 25 women to start with!
3. Follow women-owned business on social media
Sometimes you’re not in a position to buy from a women-owned business but you still want to show support and love, so I encourage you to follow them on Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook. Then engage with their page and share content when you can with your community! There’s so many ways to show support.
4. Watch the stories of women leaders
Grab some of your favorite movie snacks and your cozy blanket and watch a documentary about a woman or women that made history. One my favorite movies of trailblazing women is “Hidden Figures”.
5. Read books by women author’s or stories of women leaders
If you’re more of a book warm and prefer to cozy on your couch with a heavy blanket, I get that! Find a book by women authors to read. I’m currently reading The Afrominimalist’s Guide to Living with Less by Christine Platt. I really enjoy reading from a women’s perspective.
6. Have conversations with people about what you’ve learned about women’s contribution to society with others
It’s one of the simplest ways and could easily be the most impactful way to celebrate women! We often grow the most from conversations we have with loved ones, friends, and sometimes even strangers. Don’t understand estimate the power of a conversation!
7. Say thank you to the women in your life
This all about showing appreciation for what the women in your life have done for you, your community, or your country. This could be sending out handwritten thank you cards, sending cups of coffee in the morning as a thank you, whatever you think would be a reflection of your appreciation for them.
I hope this has given you some ideas you hadn’t thought about to celebrate a month dedicated to showing the awesomeness of women and all that they do for communities.
