How it started….
You likely started your sustainable lifestyle filled with optimism. Looking at the fight against climate change with child-like wonder where you thought anything is possible. You have a certain kind of energy about you where you are walking and talking differently.
How it’s going…
Then with a quickness in the night undetected it seems you’re hit with eco-anxiety and the overwhelm of all there is to do to fight climate change and the glaring deadline to get things done yesterday paralyzes you.
Eco-anxiety can feel like…
You’re not doing enough to live a sustainable lifestyle
You’re not thinking about the planet before yourself
And often manifest physically as chest pains and headaches.
We all face eco-anxiety at one point or another. We get off the path of creating our dream sustainable life or it’s not eco-anxiety at all but sometimes just a lack of knowledge of what to do next in the journey.
I created my business to help you overcome these problems. I help people create a life they love that’s also good for the planet. As I’ve grown in my personal journey and built this business over the last 4+ years I want to share three ways you can reach your dream sustainable life.
Get Yourself A Community
Find people that will help you in different areas of your sustainable lifestyle. Seek out role models that are farther along in their sustainable living that you can learn lessons from but be careful not to idolize them.
Get people that will motivate you and figure out challenges you’re facing with you. Lastly, find people that are in the same area of their sustainable lifestyle as you are so you have people to relate to and don’t feel alone.
Get The Right Resources
Imagine trying to get to a new destination you’ve never been before without GPS or someone to ask that’s been there before. It’s going to be a struggle if not impossible in some cases.
Use free resources where you can like A.Y.O. Business Finder (to connect you to 220+ sustainable businesses) or books (like The Afrominimalist Guide to Living with Less by Christine Platt), or email newsletters (like A.Y.O Newsletter with lessons learned, industry news, and more).
Have A Flexible Plan
Know that you will have a plan for your dream sustainable life and it will likely go differently. Nonetheless it’s helpful to know what you are working towards because your plan will inform the decisions you make.
Creating a life against the status quo is challenging but not impossible. If you feel like it’s been impossible, sign up for my newsletter to gain relief and confidence on building your dream sustainable life.
